Don’t make it about yourself
A note to self: don’t make it about yourself.
Ideally, almost never.
That can be particularly hard since our POV can deceive us into thinking we are the center of the universe.
And even when we are generally emphatic, certain high stake situations–such as work on an important project, or an intimate relation with a person we like–can be a trigger which put’s us back in that wretched center again.
Me. Me. Me.
Let’s scratch that and not make it about ourselves.
Therein lies the potential of genuine connection.
Let’s be good hosts, not ungrateful guests.
