I believe that in most of the life situations we have a choice of the four fundamental reactions.
- Proactive action (trying to resolve an issue in a mature and considered way)
- Acceptance (embracing the problem and learning to live with it)
- Getting away (eliminating the issue by not engaging)
- Complaining (ineffective attacks or whining)
It’s entirely possible I’m missing something, but in my experience, those are the options from the menu.
In most situations in life, I try to remind myself to choose any of the first three—with the preference for the first two—and ignore the last one by all means.
